Powder Blue Powerhouse

closer view of an early McDonnell-Douglas F-15A Eagle air superiority fighter/interceptor,US Air Force,c.1974. only the first 30 or so production aircraft received the Air Superiority Blue color scheme before tests indicated the 2-tone Compass Ghost grey scheme was more effective in rendering an Eagle invisible in it,s intended environment. Eagle was lighter and had more thrust than the F-4 Phantoms it was to replace for Air Defense,with a greater than 1-1 Power-to-Weight ratio,enabling an F-15 to go supersonic in a vertical climb,along with a lifting-body airframe design,allowing for superb manuverability.
